Executive Functioning Checklists for ELA Time Management

$3.00

ELA teachers, teach executive functioning skills for student organization and time management by chunking research projects, essay writing, and public speaking assessments into small, manageable steps. These time management and student organization tools are a quick way to help students take charge of their own learning during the course of a large writing or speaking assessment; meanwhile, you have an ongoing record of work completion which is great as a tool for progress monitoring and student reflection. This is also a great way to build-in a support for every student that is often a required intervention for 504 and/or IEP students!

At the start of an assessment, provide students with a hard copy of the checkpoints sheet. You are free to edit and customize for your own classroom use. When a checkpoint is due, check-in student work, providing a stamp or sticker for successful completion and writing a note for students who need more work/support. At the end of the project, students turn in their checkpoints sheet, allowing you to easily assess the skill of time management. Whether this is a formal grade/strand on your rubric or not, it provides valuable data for progress monitoring and student reflection!
